There are few interesting news items in last 24 hours, which I want to deliberate
- Unique Identification Authority Of India (UIDAI) announced a fresh layer of security, which may be a virtual ID to prevent Aadhaar Data being shared , so as to address privacy and security concerns. It also added a safety feature to ensure only need based sharing of information, by way of a limited KYC. This virtual ID system will be operative from March 2018, Aadhaar holders will be able to generate a 16 digit temporary number which can be shared with Banks, Insurance Cos, telecom service and any other service providers instead of 12 digit Aadhaar number. All service providers need to have their system upgraded for this purpose. To generate this virtual ID, the user had to go to UIDAI web site and provide his/her Aadhaar 12 digit ID number, the web site will generate 16 digit virtual ID which can be shared with any service provider. The user can change this virtual ID number again by logging on to UIDAI website. My only concern is with Aadhaar ID once generated was a permanent and any lay person could go to service provider with his/her Aadhaar card for availing the services, but with this system how a person who is not internet savvy or a poor person who does not even own a cell phone will be able to go to UIDAI web site for getting this virtual ID. Can some one throw a light on this?
- The govt has announced that any foreign Airlines company can invest for 49% stake in Air India. My only thought is why any foreign Airlines company will invest in Air India which is a loss making company, without any say in day to day running operations and The govt is further saying that if in future it wants to off load the balance 51%, then it will go to Indian company. According to me best option would have been first govt should off load the 51% to the reputed Indian company who is in aviation business and then ask for investments from foreign airlines for remaining 49%. In this case depending on the reputation and management record of Indian company, the foreign airlines company will definitely show interest in investing in Air India, they may not show any or least interest in present scenario.
- The release date of movie Padmavat(earlier called Padmavati) is now finalised and which is 25th Jan 2018. Now the movie has been cleared by Censor Board with the change in name and rider that movie is not based on any historical character and it is based on fiction story, even then few states have announced that they are not willing to allow the release of this movie , as it will hurt public ssentiments. The prominent states are Rajasthan, MP and UP. Even Goa has announced that as this being a peak tourist season, they can deploy their police force to safeguard the cinema halls if there is a protest by some organisation, even progressive states like Maharashtra and Gujarat are showing their reservations. I think that the producers of this movie should have waited bit longer for controversy to die down and then released the movie.
In the end what you say my friends.
Waiting for your feed back and com

1 it seems that fear of losing privacy is real. True it will be difficult for many persons to generate. 16 digit virtual if.
2.I agree that G. O. I. should first look for a competent Indian Company to divest 51% of stake in Air India.
3. Release of film Padmavati will face many problems
