Kashmir Militants

You are all aware that Kashmir is facing militancy for almost last 3 decades. I still remember that it started in a very small way , in 1989 summer when I visited Srinagar with my family in 1989 the locals used to say that this problem of small blasts in city and protest bandhs are hurting their business. And after that the problem of militancy started growing with help of Pakistan, who started funding the radicals elements of Kashmiri population. These militants got the encouragement, when to free the abducted daughter of then Central Home Minister Mufti Mohd Sayed, the Central Govt headed by VP Singh yielded to all their demands. After that the successive govt at centre could not form a specific policy on Kashmir Militancy issue, as most of the time central govt was of coalition type and with divergent views it became really impossible to have strong policy on Kashmir. In the late 90s Kandhar issue also happened, when Vajpayee govt had to release few top militants  in exchange of hijacked Indian Airlines’ passengers. After this incident the problem increased manifold as it became evident that the Pakistan govt is openly sponsoring  and supporting militants and terrorists in Kashmir valley.Subsequent UPA Govt at centre failed miserably to tackle the issue of terrorism/ militancy, because of their appeasement policy and belief in pseudo secularism, and between there was too much hue and cry from Human Right activists about rights of militants.

But now with Central Govt headed by PM Modi, the things are taking a different shape as Indian security forces are attacking the militants in very efficient manner, some of the recent happenings in this issue are worth noticing

  1. When last year cross border terrorist activities sponsored by Pakistan started increasing, and terrorist attack army ordinance depot at Pathankot. Within few days Indian army carried a surgical strike on the terrorist training/controlling centres in Pak occupied area and destroyed them completely, this stunned Pakistan, as it had never happened earlier. Pakistan created a much Halla Gulla but did not get any support from any of the world leaders.
  2. As per today’s news report Indian security forces have killed more than 100 militant this year, which have dampen the spirits of all terrorist organisation based in Pakistan and Kashmir. Yesterday also security forces killed top militant of LeT, along with his aides.
  3. As there are many militant organisations who are behind militancy, it had became very difficult for J&K and central govt to negotiate for peace. The state govt could not take any action against Kashmir based militant organisation because even state govts started having soft corner for them because of some local politicians who were friendly with them including leaders from Congress and National Conference.
  4. You all will remember that in 1980s when Khalistani movement was at peak in Punjab and even after Operation Blue Star  the same could not be contained, then it was an initiative by Punjab Police Chief KPS Gill who dealt with Khakistani militants with iron hand, and he gave the order to Punjab Police to shoot at sight if they see any militant. This drive by him started giving results and slowly militancy in Punjab died down. It is known fact the militants only understand the language of bullet and they have to be dealt accordingly. True  some innocent men  were also killed in that operation, but you have to take the calculated risk.
  5. Few months back when army men were attacked with  stones by few paid protesters in Kashmir, and they captured one protester and tied that person on the bonnet of the their vehicle and used him as  human shield to clear the road, there was much hue and cry raised by the Human Right Activists, and started saying it is wrong on army’s part to use this kind of activity. I  want to ask these Human Right Activists that the human rights are only applicable to militants/protesters/terrorists and what about human rights of  security forces.
  6. Recently some militants attacked a Bus carrying yatris coming back from Amarnath pilgrimage, where 19 yatris were killed. The security forces within few days traced those militants and killed them in encounter.

It is my personal opinion that the tough stand taken by Modi govt  has started giving some result, and it is high time that these pseudo secular politicians stop giving statements that Govt is troubling Muslims and killing them. They should realise that Govt is dealing with militants and they have to be dealt in this way only, and no religion should be brought to fore while dealing with them. I do not understand why Kashmir is a problem and who instigated these Kashmiri muslims, because as per my knowledge after partition King of J&K sign the accession treaty with India, and Jammu & Kashmir became integral part of India, why the situation became so  complicated over the years, was it because of ruling politicians in the decade of 1950s.

What you say my friends.

Awaiting your feed backs and comments.

Will wait and watch. But yes, I agree at least there is decisiveness now!

I agree with Anil except last para. I think it is necessary to convince local population ( including Muslims) that it is in their own interest to be part of India and not that of Pakistan.

But for last 70 years, all the leaders of different parties are tried their best to convince them and failed. They are always misled by Pakistan propaganda, then what/where is the solution.
