Reservations

Now Hardik Patel has declared that he is going to support Congress in Gujarat elections, as Congress has promised him that after coming to power they will approve the reservations for Paatidar community ( Patels) in govt jobs and other places. Already Gujarat state has already consumed it’s quota of reservations which is at 50%,the limit has been set by Supreme Court, now how Congress is going to confirm reservations to Paatidars even if they come to power. As they will not have guts to reduce the quota of some other caste.
Now when the present Gujarat govt and BJP govt at centre is talking of development for all,Congress is still not coming out of its caste and religion politics. I think they have forgotten the results of UP elections, where they aligned with caste backed Party and what was the result, every one knows.
My personal opinion is that caste based politics has ruined our country and Congress is the main culprit who were the main architects for encouraging these type of politics, and many other national and regional parties also followed the same and prospered. Now the people have become smart and last few elections have proved the same. Now no one is interested in caste/religion based politics except for few self centred politicians, people want development and clean.and corruption free administration, person like Modi is working very hard that India should achieve the same.
On the issue of reservations, I recently read somewhere that when the Constituent Assembly was discussing the constitution details, it was basically Ambedkar who wanted reservations for schedule caste etc and this was vehemently opposed by Sardar Patel who was of the opinion that now we are independent nation and all citizens should be equal and if any reservations are to be given it should be on economic basis and not on caste/religion basis. Many of the other members also backed Patel, then Ambedkar took the matter to PM Nehru and who backed Ambedkar for reservations on caste/religion basis in a cabinet meeting. It has also been written that after this episode Patel was heart broken and he confided to his close friends that he never dreamt of independent India which will be based on caste and religion and he predicted this type of reservations will hamper the progress of India. He also stopped attending any cabinet meetings and constituent assembly after this tiff with Nehru, where he had said to Nehru the future generations will never forgive us, because of the mess of reservations which we are going to leave for them. HOW TRUE HIS WORDS HAVE BEEN PROVEN IN TODAY’S INDIA.
