Some Thoughts

Today also I am not writing on any specific topic, but will be writing on my  some thoughts which are going in my mind. Some of the thoughts are very current.

1. The latest news of today is, Supreme Court bars the instant Islamic Triple Talaq for next six months. The SC  also refers to abolition of triple talaq in Islamic countries and asks why can not our country which is independent get rid of it. It further adds that if Govt does not enact law within next six months then injunction on instant triple talaq will remain in force. The SC said that instant triple talaq is unworthy and retrograde. SC said that one can not seek constitutional protection for a practice for which the primary source is not Quran. While the court upheld the talaq-ul-sunnat- where husband pronounces talaq over three month iddat period to factor three menstrual cycle of the woman, it banned instant triple talaq. The 5 Judges bench gave the verdict 3-2 in favour of the ban. Surprisingly soon to retire Chief Justice of SC was one of the two judges which opposed  the banning of triple talaq.  I hope govt  will enact the law within six months, soon we will know who are the politicians , who are going to appease the Muslim Clerics who favour the instant triple talaq. Is this step of SC going to lead towards common civil law as prescribed by founding fathers of India Constitution.
2. Recently in the United States, there was a move which was un precedent and very dangerous when Donald Trump’s justice department asked the web hosting provider DreamHost to hand over the IP adresses of roughly 1.3 million who has visited the protest site www.disruptj20.org, this site organised the protests surrounding Trump’s inauguration in Jan 2017. Dream Host issued a statement that they are going to challenge this order of govt in court and further added that this is a strong example of investigatory overreach and a clear abuse of govt authority and explained that the information can be used to identify any individuals who used this site to exercise and express political speech protected under constitution. The out come of this case will have wider implications through out the world regarding whether govt justice department can ever ask for such information from the web site. I think President Trump’s this  move is very dangerous which will put liberty of the common citizen in peril and democracy will lose its meaning. Suppose tomorrow this type demand comes from ruling party in our country, the hell will break lose , and all the media will start shouting that this move is against the spirit of democracy and freedom of speech.There will be enough panel discussions on all the news channels condemning the move of govt. I am really surprise this american news has not been reported widely in Indian print and visual media.
3. In cricket India thrashed Sri Lanka in 1st ODI played in Sri Lanka. The present Lankan team is not even a shadow of earlier teams. It seems that Lankan team have not been able to find the replacements of the few key players like  Sanggakara, Mahila Jaywardane and others and this Lankan team is like present West indies team has also touch its nadir. My total sympathies with Lankan team, because unless Asian teams are strong then only Asian cricket will have say in world cricket as presently Pakistan team is also not in the news because the teams from most of the cricket playing nations are not interested in visiting that country, because of the political situation .
4. Lastly Bollywood- A film based on PM’s Swatch Bharat Abhiyan,” Toilet- Ek Prem Katha” has been declared super hit . The small budget film crossed Rs 100 crore mark in first week of run, where as just one week before Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jab Harry met Sejal flopped miserably. It seems that cinema going public wants good stories and well made films rather than flashy films with no content which solely depend on main leads’s star power. I further feel that some times pre release promotions when over done can adversely affect the film also, if the content of the film is not strong.
