Surprises

There have been many surprises over the last few days in the fields of politics, entertainment industry, sports and  IT industry. I am giving below in brief the few surprises :

1. One of the biggest surprise in the Indian political circle was the appointment of Nirmala Seetharaman as Defencce Minister of  India, on Sunday 3rd Sept 2017. This was one of the boldest step taken by PM Modi, as up tillnow she was considered as a very junior member of Modi’s cabinet. She is Masters in Economics and M Phil in International Studies. Before joining active politics she worked for PriceWaterhouse Coopers as Senior Manager and later for BBC World Service. She was also a member of the National Commission for Women. She joined BJP in 2006 only, and became one of the party spokesperson in 2010. She played an important role in 2014 general elections, and was made Minister of States(Independent Charge) for Commerce in 2014 by PM Modi. Imagine the amount of faith PM Modi has in her capabilities that yesterday not only he elevated her to Cabinet Minister rank and gave her the most important portfolio of Defence.  Today I read one joke on the Whatsapp , which is: a man(Rajnath Singh) is handling Ghar (Home)  woman( Sushma  Swaraj) is handling Bahar (External Affairs) and another  woman Nirmala Seetharaman is handling Suraksha( Defence). She is the first woman who is full fledged Defence Minister, earlier for some time Indira Gandhi held Defence portfolio when she was PM. So folks  Hail Women Power.
2. Second surprise was Kangana Ranaut. I do not know how many of you have seen her interview with Rajat Sharma of India TV  in Aap Ki Adalat. Where she openly admitted about her affair with Hrithik Roshan and aftermath. She stated that Hrithik Roshan falsely accused  her sending more than 1330 E mails  which she denied, then Hrithik said she has send the mails to some imposter who was posing as Hrithik on E mail account. She then says that she asked him to catch hold of imposter thru cyber cell, but till date Hrithik has not come out with the details of imposter, because there was no imposter and she further adds that Hrithik only created this imposter  to malign her. Then she further adds that after that Hithik and his family send her legal notice thru a top criminal lawyer asking her to apologise, which she never did. Then she tells Rajat Sharma,till date why Hrithik has not taken any legal action against her because he is afraid that if the matter goes to court then the the people will come to know,it was Hrithik who promised to marry her after his divorce case is settled with  his wife Susainne.Earlier on Koffee with Karan show, she openly accused  the show host Karan Johar for promoting nepotism in Film Industry. Hats off to this Gusty Lady who is defying the norms of male dominated Bollywood.
3. Next surprise was the performance of Maria Sharapova in US Open Tennis tournament. She was slapped with 15 months ban by Tennis Federation last year for using banned drug. This was her first major tournament after the ban was lifted where she was playing and in the end she reached last sixteen and then lost. Where the top ranked players who were number 2 , 3, 10  and other top seeded player lost in earlier rounds than her. Some women player also commented that she was prefrential treatment by the organisers as all her matches were played on the centre court and in the night session. But all these players forgot that Maria is still a player to reckon with and people love to watch her on TV  on prime time.
4. Next surprise was being expected by all Cricket lovers. India beat Sri Lanka in ODI series 5-0 after white wash of Sri Lanka in Test Series. Is this India team has become unbeatable or Sri Lanka team was very weak. It is true that Sri Lankan team was not up to the mark and international standards, but it is early to say that Indian team is unbeatable. Agreed that over last two years their performance has been exceptionally well but most of the time India has played at home and away series has been with weak opponents like Sri Lanka and West Indies. Real test will be when India play  England, South Africa and Australia in their country. Lets hope for the best.
5. Lastly north Korea tested Hydrogen Bomb ,  every nuclear country was taken surprise by their experiment. This North Korean move further antagonised the US President Trump who does note rule out attack on North Korea. Let us wait for next move of both the countries.
