Today also I am not writing on one topic, but sharing my various thoughts with you.

1. In my last blog, I had discussed about Euthanasia in India and  mentioned regarding SC  talking about Living Will concept. Yesterday 5 Judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra hinted that SC wants to devise a mechanism to legitimise the concept of  Living Will. They further added that they do not to re visit their earlier ruling of 2011 on Passive Euthanasia,  which permitted the HC supervised procedure or passive euthanasia. Further adding that we can not take regressive step, we are clear that right to life does not confer on an individual the right to die, but the process of end of life  must be dignified. The SC suggested that proforma for advance directive document or Living Will should be put forward by Health Dept, and once the final decision by SC is given on this issue, the legislative should enact the law. In my opinion SC/govt should go ahead in formulating the draft bill also for Living Will.
2. There was one more development, SC yesterday gave the judgement and ruled that sex between a man and his wife( who is below 18 years of age) will be counted as rape and the husband can face up to 10 years jail under Indian Penal Code(IPC) or even life term under Protection of Children from Sexual offence(POSCO) act of 2012.. Till now, the minimum age for girl’s marriage was 18, which was also the minimum age for consensual sex. But  under IPC Sec 375(2), a husband can be cleared of rape charges for sex with his wife if she is above 15 years. Now with this judgement, for the first time since the IPC came into existence, there is now a uniform minimum age of 18 years for marriage, consent and marital sex. The SC further added that the exception carved out by the section of IPC creates an unnecessary and artificial distinction between married girl child and unmarried girl child. This artificial distinction is arbitrary and discriminatory and is definitely not in the interest of girl child. According to me, SC has given a very thoughtful judgement, as some times on the pretext of marriage, young girl child are sexually exploited, I think simultaneously SC/Govt should enact a law which also punishes parents of girl child if they marry her before she attains the age of 18.
3. Yesterday, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting appointed renowned actor Anupam Kher as new Chairman of  Film and television Institute of India(FTII). He replaces actor Gajendra Chauhan, whose tenure as FTII Chairman had been very controversial, as his appointment was criticised by film fraternity and FTII students also protested . Anupam Kher’s appointment has been welcomed by varied sections from the film and TV industry. It is not for first time Anupam has been chosen by govt to hold an administrative position, earlier he was head of National School of Drama (NSD) and Central Booard of Film Certification( aka Censor Board). After his appointment Anupam said that “I am happy and humbled to facilitate students with my experience in India and International Cinema, travel and stage acting.” But according to me while appointing Anupam Kher as Chairman of FTII, Govt has not taken into cognisance of one fact that he also run an acting school in Mumbai known as Actor Prepares, is this appointment will not be a “Conflict of Interest”.
4. Two time FIFA World Cup Champion Argentina were on the verge of not qualifying for the next World Cup in Russia in 2018. This fact was widely reported in the media that if Argentina does not win their last  qualifying match against Ecuador on Wednesday, they will be out of tournament, and looking into their performances in the qualifying matches, their supporters and other  football lovers were fearing the worst. And the way Ecuador started the match had a dampening  effect on Argentina team and their supporters, as Ecuador scored a goal inside the first minute into the match. What happened next  is some thing unbelievable, after the initial set back it was only one person who stole the show for Argentina and he is none other than Super Star of Football Lionel Messi, who scored hat trick for Argentina and ensured that his nation qualified for the finals of World Cup in 2018. A Very Big Salute to Lionel Messi and Good Luck to Argentina Team for 2018.
