Few thoughts on the last Thursday of Apr 2018.
- Yesterday Supreme Court(SC) said that they never gave an order for Aadhaar and phone linkage. Few months back there was mad rush to link mobile phone numbers with Aadhaar supposedly to comply with the directive of SC. They clarified that they have never ordered mandatory linkage and said that govt misrepresented its Feb 6, 2017 directive and insisted on doing it. The CJI led bench said that Feb 6, 2017 order merely recorded that Attorney General Mukul Rohtagi’s submission on the Aadhaar was one of the documents used to verify subscriber’s identity, as was sought by a PIL filed by NGO Lokniti Foundation. I do not understand why all the NGOs and other petitioners are objecting to linkage of Aadhaar with mobile sim cards. As it is a mere link to establish the identity of the subscriber, this can never lead to intrusion into subscribers’ privacy as no call records can be maintained through Aadhaar. Rakesh Dwivedi, who appeared for UIDAI said under the Telegraph Act, the Centre could insist that the telecom service providers set a condition for linkage of Aadhaar with sim as part of their licence agreement. It is just one time verifications of sim card with Aadhaar to stop any kinds of mischief. My only submission is that it is prerogative of Govt to frame laws, and court can only enter if the law is not within the frame work of constitution, now linking Aadhaar with your SIM card is no way capable of intrusion of the privacy. It is just a tool provided by the govt so that the service provider can check the authenticity of the subscriber. I think all these NGOs are wasting SC’s time on this issue.
- IPL- The first part of the league matches is almost over, as each team has played 6 matches ( of allotted 7 matches and 7 more matches in second part and then knock outs). The performance of last champion Mumbai Indian (MI) is pathetic as out of 6 matches played they have lost 5 matches and presently they are at the bottom of table with Delhi Daredevils (DD) with only 2 points, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are at top with 10 points, by winning 5 out 6 matches. The other team with world famous players like Virat Kohli, AB deVillers and Yajuvendra Chahal representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is also not performing well as they have won only 2 of their 6 matches, RCB has a good batting line up but they do not have bowlers who can bowl in death overs, it happened yesterday also when CSK wanted 16 runs in last over and RCB’s bowler could not contain CSK, even in 2nd last over RCB conceded 19 runs. Presently nothing is clicking for MI, even in their last match with Sun Riser Hyderabad (SRH), while chasing they could not reach a target of 118 runs and were all out on 87 runs. When their batting clicks then at that time their bowling fails and when bowling clicks their batting fails, and most importantly the batting performance of their skipper is not as per his rating and star stature, which inadvertently is spoiling his performance as captain also. In the case of RCB, one thing is sure that their captain Virat Kohli’s batting is up to the standard, and I am hoping that they will bounce back in the balance matches. Now Gautam Gambhir has stepped down from the captaincy of DD with reason that he is unable to handle the pressure, it really looked surprising from his mouth as he was captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for so many seasons and under his captaincy KKR won the championship also, in this case also his personal performance as batsman was not up to the mark. The real surprise package of this year’s tournament is team of KXIP under the leadership of Ravichandran Ashwin, as a team they are clicking and their trump card is Chris Gayle, few matches in which he has played he has demolished the opposition. In my opinion based on present indications and teams forms CSK, KXIP, SRH, KKR or Rajasthan Royals(RR) should reach the knock out rounds, but RCB can still be a dark horse, who can upturn the carts of other teams.

I think here we missed the woods for the trees; meaning ‘misinterpreted’ was the key today’s article. Why did the govt. ‘misinterpret’ it? Secondly today we do have a govt. that ‘misinterprets’ even lies about facts and figures. This is the first official giveaway..!
