Few news items on this Monday, which caught my eyes and I would like to deliberate on them
- President passes the order for the disqualification of 20 Delhi MLAs of Apna Aaadmi Party(AAP) for holding office of profit as Parliamentary Secretaries along with being an MLA. The complaint was made to Election Commission(EC) about a year back against these MLAs, but instead of explaining their position to EC, the AAP party backed their MLAs and attempted to bring in a law to protect the MLAs, within five days of first complaint to EC, which was thwarted by the Union Law/Home Ministry. When EC recommended their dis qualifications to President through Home Ministry, the AAP affected MLAs started giving statements to press that without hearing, the president should not pass the order, as if the President is going to instruct to take the order back. They should have known the procedure that the President generally will not go against the advise of EC and Home Ministry.The EC has put on the record that they had, in their final reply sought by the EC from the MLAs , were asked the details of the benefits received and duties discharged as Parliamentary Secretaries. The MLAs responded in one line , they have already made the submissions they wanted to make. Such an arrogant behaviour, as Arvind Kejriwal and other members of AAP consider themselves above every law and institutions of the country. Now they have approached Delhi HC to put a stay on this order of President.
- Friends many of you might of seen PM Narendra Modi’s interview last night on Times Now Channel. One thing what he said was worth pondering over- When he was asked that you have said you want to make counter Congress free, is this coming true as Congress has been reduced to four states, and his reply was, I quote “”” The Congress Party has our country’s main pillar of politics that influenced the culture in all political parties. When I talk of Congress free India, it is not limited to Congress as an organisation. Congress has spread its culture across the country, which is, Casteism, Dynasty, Corruption & exploitation, treachery and keeping control over power. All these became part of Indian Political culture, whose main pillar was Congress. So when I sat Congress free India, it is not related to election results. I would want even Congress on its own should free itself of Congress culture. That’s meant by Congress Free India.””” Unquote. According to me whatever he has said is completely true, as it is the Congress and its culture which has ruined our political system to such an extent that it will great effort by all the political [parties and citizens to come out of it.
- Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Govts moved the Supreme Court on Sunday, seeking recall of its Jan 18 order allowing Padmaavat to be released on Jan 25 through out the country, and lifting the ban imposed by 4 states. Their submission is that as per section 6 of the Cinematograph act empowers them to stop the exhibition of any controversial movie on the grounds of possible violation of law & order. A bench consisting of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud have agreed to hear the interim applications of both the states on Jan 23. Going by the present scenario,the movie Padmaavat is now doomed.
