Tuesday Happenings

On this Tuesday, there are few interesting news items, which I would like to share with you all

  1. For last few days, the news regarding film Padmaavat is finding a place in the front page of all the newspapers.. After SC admitted the plea of Rajasthan and MP govt to ban the  movie on the issue of law and order. It has been reported that majority of Exhibitors/Theatre Owners/Distributors in Rajasthan, Gujarat, MP, Jharkhand  are unwilling to release the film in their territory, fearing the threats from Rajput community and damage to their properties. In the mean while 300 women members of Karni Sena reportedly registered to perform Jauhar(Self Immolation) on 24th Jan to protest against the release of the film. I do not know what to call this act– can it be called” height of madness”, just for one silly hindi film  you want to immolate yourself. I think only sensible character in this whole episode is Akshay Kumar, who postponed his film Padman to 9th Feb. Originally  Padmaavat was to release in Dec 2017, but when there was delay in getting Censor Certification, the producers postponed the release to 25th Jan 2018, on that day even release of Padman was announced long time back. So industrywalla started commenting it was bad that two big movies releasing on the same day will be bad for business of both the movies. So Akshay Kumar showing his magnanimity  and solidarity with Producers of Padmaavat announced to deferred the release of his movie to a later date. This fact may not be true, my personal opinion is that, he must have thought that by releasing his film with Padmaavat will be an added risk because if some protests happened in Multiplexes against Padmaavat then his film’s business will also be affected.
  2. Shiv Sena in their national executive meeting announced today, that they will not ally with BJP in 2019 Loksabha and state assembly polls. This resolution was moved by their MP Sanjay Raut who stated that BJP had been demoralising their party for last three years. He further said that Shiv Sena will win 25 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra(out of 48) and 125 assembly seats (out of 288), if they fight the election by going solo. Friends if you recall in 2014 Shiv Sena won 18 seats in Lok Sabha when they were in alliance with BJP and at that time full nation including Maharashtra was under Modi wave, but after few months when they fought the Maharashtra assembly election by not alligning with BJP, they won only 63 assembly seats, where as BJP won 122 seats. In the state, they reluctantly joined the govt  and till today they are  behaving as if they are not part of govt.
  3. At last some one has recognised that Diabetes is a serious disease. The CBE board announced that s tudents with type 1 diabetes can be considered in disabled category. They have allowed students  suffering from this disease to fill in the form and write about this disease in disability column. From last year CBSE board is allowing insulin dependent (Type 1) diabetes to carry sugar, tablets, chocolate, candies and water bottles inside the examination halls, as these type of patients need frequent meals to avoid the attack of hypoglycaemia(very low sugar). I hope the other boards and Universities will also follow this procedure.

In the end friends, waiting for your feed backs and comments.

    1. I think Padmavat & Padman could be mistaken for each other. That could be one reason for postponement by Akshay Kumar.
    2. Shivsena is not the same under Uddhav’s leadership as Balasaheb’s.
    3. Decision by CBSE is a welcome decision.
