Tuesday Post

Yesterday I wrote about happening in Kolkata on the issue of face off between Kolkata Police and CBI team which  went there to question Police Commissioner regarding Sarada and other Ponzi scams. From what I read in newspapers today, it look like as if  Mamta Banerjee and her party TMC are behaving in a very  high headed manner and they do not have faith in any  institution whether it is CBI, Election commission or even Judiciary. CRPF was summoned to clear the siege of 2 buildings in Kolkata where CBIs office  are located. Even after receiving 3 summons from CBI to appear before them in regards to the said  scam case, Rajeev Kumar the Police Commissioner of Kolkata, failed to appear  (This happen beetween Aug 17 and Mar 2018). The CBI had to move the court on this issue, and matter is still pending and the decision is expected today. And what was Supreme Court observations on this issue, yesterday. They have asked the CBI  to give proof of West Bengal’s non co operation in this matter, and then SC will come down heavily in this matter. So again wait & watch- what happens today in courts. Now if Police Commissioner had some grievances with CBI, why he did not approach HC or SC. No he did not do that, so what does it imply that he had backing of Mamta Banerjee, otherwise any IPS officer normally will never ignore summons of CBI

What to say about the politicians from the opposition parties- Congress President Rahul Gandhi had criticised about Mamta govt’s shielding of corrupt officials and politicians when this scam was earthed in 2013, and even during his election campaign speeches he talked about poor people of West Bengal loosing money  because of this scam, and for last 2 days he is showing his support to Mamta Banerjee. Same is the case with CPM, they also made this scam an Election issue in 2014, and because due to BJP their existence in West Bengal is in danger, they are started siding with  Mamta.

Few months back, I had written a blog on this scam, friends if you want to again read about this scam in nut shell , you can read the same by typing the following link on the internet

Saradha Scam

There is one more important news item in newspaper and that is yesterday British Home Secretary has signed the order for fugitive Vijay Mallaya’s extradition back to India. The decision has come after 2 years of Indian govt first handed over the extradition request to the British High Commission in New Delhi.. Now as per the law if Mallaya wants, he can appeal in the High court within 14 days, and if there is no appeal then within 28 days he will be extradited. The High Court decision can be challenged in the Supreme Court. Mallaya has given the statement that , now he will apply to High Court against the decision and its ratification by Home Secretary to High Court.  This is the first step won by Indian authorities, as all the time they have maintained that getting Mallaya back was not going to be easy despite the extradition treaty between India & Britain. The British authorities examined all the documents submitted by Indian govt under the extradition treaty  and only after they were convinced that India had a strong case then only they approved the legal process against Mallaya. This latest development bin extradition case has given hope to Indian authorities that if pursued in a correct legal manner, the fugitive  can be extradited from anywhere in the world.. So now Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi  will be having jitters, where ever they are now.

So in both the cases it is wait and watch.
