Tuesday Titbits

Few Tit bits news  on the first Tuesday of March.

1. You all remember  that in the last week of Jan 2018, three civilians were killed when Army men fired on a stone pelting mob in Kashmir, prompting CM Mehbooba Mufti to order a probe. A FIR was filed in local Police station against the Major Aditya. Lt Col Karamveer Singh, (Major’s father) filed a petition against this probe and FIR in SC. On Feb 12, SC had stopped  State Police from taking any steps against Major. Frowning upon J & K govt and police  on their attempt to treat Armyman as ordinary criminals. A bench consisting of  Chief Justice Dipak Mishra,  Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud stayed a probe by state police into FIR on this firing incident. What an irony the highest court has to intervene to save a Army man who has taken action against terrorists/activists to save his and his juniors, whose lives were under threat.
2.  Tamilnadu Politics is taking new shape, with entry of 2 biggest Super stars of Tamil cinema. Few days back Kamal Hasan launched his political party and yesterday Rajnikanth announced his entry into politics . He sought to snatch legacy of MGR, who was up til now the inspiration of Anna DMK. Rajnikanth is looking into occupying the vacuum created by the death of Jayalalitha. While paying a tribute to MGR,  he said I am not MGR but I can give you rule like MGR–a rule for the poor. He further added that  he had to leave cinema and enter politics as politician are not doing their jobs properly. He warned seasoned politicians, to be cautious of people’s intelligence. With DMK on decline and Anna DMK divided, it will be highly probable that during next elections there will be realignment of political parties in Tamilnadu. Kamal Hasan has already  given indication about his leaning, when he invited Kejriwal during launch of his party. Now it is to be seen which way Rajnikanth is leaning.
3. BJP’s good performance in North East  and Mamta Didi is feeling jitters in her citadel.This victory has given a worry to Mamta  and Naveen Patnaik, as next on Amit Shah/Modi ‘s target will be their states of Bengal and Orrisa. Mamta is sending signals to Stalin of DMK and Udhav Thackrey of Shiv Sena, in her attempt to initiating a  front of all federal parties in creating a anti BJP front. She is also in touch with SP, BSP, TDP and K Chandrashekhar Rao of TRS. She is keeping Congress out at this juncture, because she knows it is a big liability at present. There is always talk of  making a front before every elections but nothing happens, because all these regional leaders have big aspirations  , seeing that Modi became CM to PM. Now every regional party leader aspire to be PM, but they forget  Modi had a backing of  BJP, which has grass root level workers, courtsey RSS, pan India, which all other political parties including  Congress are lacking. Now what is value of DMK, even in Tamilnadu, it can become non relevant after entry of  Kamal  Hasan and Rajnikanth.   I do not think Chandrababu Naidu will break up with BJP, as he wants all the help from centre for the development of Andhra. Let us wait and watch the future development on this issue.
