Few thoughts of today
- Ex CM of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan is in the news again for the wrong reason. It is alleged that he got two flats transferred in the name of his daughters, where as the flats are meant for MLAs. The flats are in Sukhada Subhada CO Op Society, the society has three buildings and flats in these buildings are only meant for MLAs. There was a Govt Regulation in 2009 which said that if the MLA who owns the flat expires then in that case the flat can be transferred in the name of MLA’s kin, the flats can not be sold or transferred to any one else. The said two flats were registered in the names of former MLAs Narayan Patil and Baburao Patil who expired, but their flats are now registered in the name of Ashok Chavan’s daughters, this is against the rules. The Officer from Collector’s office has said notice is being issued to Ashok Chavan and his daughters, and if adequate reply is not received the flats may be sealed. So there is one more case of Congress ministers using their position and power to get the benefits for their family. Ashok Chavan is also involved in Adarash Society Scam situated in Colaba, Mumbai, and CBI has got the permission from govt to charge sheet him .
- Metro III route of Mumbai City- Originally Metro III route which is from Colaba to Seepz(Andheri East) via Bandra, was supposed to be constructed above ground as other Metro routes planned in the city, but it was changed to Under ground type because so called high society people of south Mumbai never wanted the Metro should run in front of their homes and thus disturbing them, they forced the govt to change the Metro system and thus cost of Metro III increased many fold. When the construction of this route started, these people started complaining that the there should not be any work happening in the night as it disturbs them and they approached High Court, and HC put a stay that no Metro work should be carried out after 10 pm, without realising that so much of work like shifting of heavy and pre cast material can be transferred by the transporters in the night and that loading/unloading of the material also creates noise, as this operation can not be carried out in the day time because of traffic on the roads. Now when the tunneling is in progress at certain sections, some building people have started complaining that there are cracks being developed in their buildings due to vibrations, and some heritage building walas have also started complaining that these structure may also be harmed.Today there was news item that Mumbai Parsis have questioned about route, and said that the proposed route which is running under the Fire Temple at Princess Street will harm the Fire Temple. But the Metro officials refuted their claim and said the tunnel is not passing under the fire temple and the same is away from their boundary wall. We do not know when the tunneling work progresses further, how many of such Temple , Mosque or Church will come in the way and if one of them manage to get a stay order, then god knows what will happen.
- Ola/Uber Cabs- You all are aware about the surge prices charged by these aggregator cabs, which can rise many fold during peak hours. In Mumbai during heavy rain days when some times local trains stop operating then these surge prices can not be imagined. Govt appointed Khanna Committee has recommended that surge pricing of these aggregator cabs should be capped and the Committee has submitted their recommendations to State Transport Dept. The Committee has also recommended that the Pre Paid fare of Black/Yellow Taxis from Airport should also be reduced so that they are at par with Ola/Uber fare ( now their fare is higher), so that passenger can opt for normal cabs also. Let us wait & watch regarding the action from the govt on these recommendations.
In the end friends, please give your feed backs and comments.
