Today being the weekend, so I will be writing on the Hat Ke Topic.  I  am using this opportunity to write some unknown facts about, one of the India’s biggest Businessmen and Philanthropist Ratan Tata.

Ratan Tata is a such a respected Business leader not in the country but also in the world that he needs no introduction. Till recently he was heading the Tata group of Companies, and he is still the largest share holder of Tata Sons Ltd, the main holding company of Tata group. hHs business achievments are known to every one but below I am giving some facts which are mostly not known :

1.  He grew up with his Grand mother, as his parents separated when he was  seven years old. His parents separation really affected his early childhood.
2. He has a degree in Architecture from very famous Cornell University.
3. He also has a Advance Management  Programme Certificate from  most prestigious University Harward.
4.  After his Management Education he was offered a job with top company IBM, but he declined that offer instead opted to join the Tata family Business at junior level.
5. After his uncle JRD Tata retired , Ratan Tata took over the reins of Tata group and led the group for 21 years.
6. During his tenure as Tata Sons Chairman, the  revenues of Tata group grew by 40 times and profits by 50 times.
7. He acquired the rights of Jaguar,Corus, Land Rover and Tetley ( all foreign companies) and thus turning Tata into global company.
8. Under the Tata group, there are 96 Business groups and out of which 28 are listed. All Tata Group companies are known for their business ethics and they do not get involved in any hanky panky business.
9. He also acts as a Advisor to some of the biggest name in the Corporate World like Mitsbhushi, Booze Allen, Hamilton, JP Morgan Chase and AIG.
10. He loves his car collections a lot, out of which his favourite is Ferrari California Super Car. When ever he gets time, he goes for long drive by driving the luxurious car himself.
11. He also has a Pilot Licence and just like JRD Tata, he is also a keen Aviator.
12. He could have been one of the top 5 richest person in the world, but he decided to to share most of his wealth for charities.
13. As of end 2106, his net worth is estimated around $ 72 billions,  which is more than that of Ambanis.
14.  If he sells all his stakes in all  Tata Companies , he is so rich that he can take over 35 countries like Bhutan, whose GDP is $ 2 Billion or less.
15. Presently he has become mentor of so many Startup companies, by investing in their Capital Funds or giving them loans.
16.  Most of the countrymen may not know after the 26/11 terrorists attack  in Mumbai, when Tata groups flagship hotel Taj Mumbai came under terrorists siege and so many of Hotel Guests and Employees lost their lives. Ratan Tata immediately opened a trust to provide immediate and long term relief to all affected people in that terror attack, he provided relief to every one not necessarily connected with Taj Hotel.
17. He attended funeral service of every employee of Taj Hotel who lost their lives in terror attack, and personally visited the home of every employee and consoled their family,  gave them more than enough compensation and full salary amount,( to the next of kin of dead employee)  till the date of employee’s retirement.
18. This last fact has been widely circulated in social media but still I want to mention  as this reflects to character of  Ratan Tata- after the terror attack on Mumbai in 2008, few hotels of Tata Group were going in for refurbishing and global tender was floated for the same. One Pakistani Company also gave an offer for the same. Top directors of that company one  day landed at Tata House in Mumbai with intention of meeting Ratan Tata, they were not able to meet him because receptionist there told them Ratan Tata does not meet any one without appointment. Afterwards this Pakistani team went to New Delhi and met one Cabinet Minister, who phoned Ratan Tata  and requested him to give some time to this Pakistani Team to present  their scheme, coolly Ratan Tata tells the minister “that you may be Shameless but I am not, after what happened on 26/11 , our group will never deal with any Pakistani Company”. This shows the patriotic spirit and character of the person,

He keeps cordial relations with all the political leaders but he is not politically  inclined towards any party. I am shocked and surprised that person like him  have  not been awarded BHARAT RATNA up til now. I think there should be campaign on normal media and social media by like minded citizens for awakening govt that person of his caliber should be bestowed with highest civilian award. Even in Sachin Tendulkar’s case it was public opinion which forced govt to award him Bharat Ratna.
