The Indian cricket fans who celebrated the victory over Pakistan few days back, as if they have already won the Champions Trophy. Yesterday after tasting defeat against Sri Lanka, the same fans were crest fallen, and they failed to understand that after scoring 321 runs, how could India lose the match.
My few observations on Champions Trophy up till now:
1.In the match against Pakistan- it is not is as if India did not performed well, but more than that Pakistan team were playing under pressure and they under performed. As they had many fresh faces who were playing India first time and they came under psychological pressure, as their media had also build a big hype for this match.
2. On the contrary Sri Lankan team never came under pressure, they planned their inning were well from the beginning only, as they knew the target is achievable on the Oval pitch which was batting friendly. The performance of Indian bowlers were also below par. On the hind sight team management might be ruing about the non inclusion of Ashwin in the team.
3. Now India’s fate depends on their last match with South Africa, which they have to win with convincing margin to reach semi finals, as in group B all the teams have won one match , and lost one match. India beat Pakistan, who beat South Africa, who beat Sri Lanka and who beat India. The circle is complete.
4. In group A, England has already reached semi final, between Australia and New Zealand one team will qualify for semi finals.
So friends wait till Sunday, to know about India’s chances of reaching semi finals.
