Today in the newspaper there is news item that Congress party is going to organise a protest fast for 72 hours in the support of farmers who were killed in firing in Madhya Pradesh(MP), I do not know whom they are trying to fool, maybe themselves as they have been living in fool’s paradise for last so many years.
Please note that the following facts
- None of the five people who died in security forces firing in MP were land owners, who had taken loans for cultivating crops.
- None of the five people had a regular job, out of five only two worked as a farm labour, 22 year old Poonamchand and 44 year old Kanihyalal.
- Third person was 19 year old student Abhishek, Fourth person was recently married 23 year old unemployed youth named Charan who wanted to join army and fifth was a 30 year old Satyanarayan who worked as daily wage labour.
- You will observe from above that none of the five persons who died, were any where connected with farmers demand for loan waiver. They were all belonging to poor families whom Congress party must have hired by giving them few hundred rupees for attending the morcha. Everyone knows that it was Congress led morcha and now Congress party is shedding crocodile tears in their memory.
- Instead of analysing why farmers are committing suicides or why they can not repay their loans, every political party is jumping in the fray and demanding loan waivers.
- There are many political leaders who declare that they have farm income and they also have taken bank loans, which they do not want to repay and hence supporting the loan waiver.
- The classical case is of Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule, whose farm income has grown many fold in last couple of years as per her declaration in Income Tax, which in crores of rupees. All these politicians use the tool of farm income to avoid paying income tax, as farm income is tax free.
- But no politician has ever come forward to resolve the issue, the crux of the matter is that farmers are not being paid the correct procurement prices, so that they can survive gracefully and repay their loans, because the middlemen who procure the produce from farmers do not pay them fair prices, as these middlemen have monopoly and are all from political parties and use muscle power, and these middlemen sell the same produce to agricultural Market or Mandi, which are also generally controlled by Politician and as Congress was ruling in most of the states when these Markets were formed, the market controller are generally from Congress or from their off shoot parties like NCP.
- This is the reason most of marginal farmers, who own small piece of land end up committing suicide.
- Neither the producer ie farmer or end consumer are benefited. So in the end who makes the money- the middlemen who procure from farmers, and the people who are sitting in the markets.
So in the end, it is all politics only and nobody is bothered about farmers plight. Is the loan waiver a permanent solution?
