  The Champion Trophy 2017 started on 1st Jun, where top 8 One Day  cricket playing teams  in the world are participating. India was suppose to play in league match against Pakistan on 4th June.But Indian Press and Visual media created such a big hype that as if it was some big event of the year, in fact it was one of the cricket match in the league stage. I can not imagine how Indian media will behave if one day India and Pakistan meet in World Cup final match, they will behave like if India & Pakistan are going to engage in the war at border. Some other observations:

1. The fact is that this was Pakistan’s weakest team in may be last four decades. In fact Virendra Sehwag  in one of TV news channel, where Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar was also present, had said that for India this match will be like a practice match, which in fact was true, if you see India’s victory margin.
2. On the day of the match and during the match news channels in India and Pakistan were ready with their expert panels, who were giving their expert opinions on the proceedings of the match.
3. After the match got over, there was euphoria in India as they have beaten Pakistan, and mourning in Pakistan  as they have lost to India. The media has created such a big hype in both the countries ,that  losing the match to India or vice versa will bring down your national pride.
4. Even two days after the match, in today’s newspaper, you will find cricket expert giving their opinions on the match, why India won and Pakistan lost. Which players performed better and which players did not perform as per expectation. And comments like if Pakistan had not given lives to  Yuvraj etc etc.

The same people in the media will give abuses to Indian team next time, if Indian team loses the match. We all should realise that winning and losing is part of the game, do not make it national pride and do not treat your players like god as if they can not loose.

In the end, Friends it is just a cricket match and not a combat battle.
