NDTV

 From yesterday there is uproar in media regarding CBI raids on the properties of Pronov Roy and his wife Radhika Roy(Promoters of NDTV). Full media and in particular NDTV news channels are behaving in a such way that if CBI has done a big sin by raiding promoters of NDTV. They feel, they are untouchable by any law and all of them are above law. To support them all those pseudo intellectuals came into open and started abusing CBI and Central Govt. My contention is that if the promoters of NDTV are not guilty , why they are shouting, let the law takes its course and in the end truth will prevail. You all will recall that few years back Tarun Tejpal of Tehlka group was implicated and arrested in molestation case in Goa, that time also full media came out in support of him including  so called pseudo intellectuals class and Delhi’s Leytten gentry. In the end what happened, Tejpal was charge sheeted and  criminal case was filed against him, he had to spend few months in jail and then he was released on bail, do any one know what has happened to Tehlka and where is Tarun Tejpal.

On the NDTV case, I have few observations:

1. Pronov Roy while applying for loan from ICICI Bank mortaged his and his wife’s full equity of 61% in NDTV , without informing SEBI  and balance shareholders . Which is against rules.
2. After one year of availing loan , he started negotiating with ICICI bank for lower interest for early repayment.
3. Before that he created a Benami company, wherein Reliance invested more than Rs 500 crores, and this Benami company took over Pronov and Radhika Roy’s share holding in NDTV. This company in fact became the owner of NDTV.
4. Pronov Roy   then  with the support of some corrupt official of ICICI bank made up story that he is willing  to close the loan account and asked for interest rebate. In general practice, if you foreclose the loan account bank charges penalty, but in this case they reduced the interest rate from 19.5% to 9.5%,ie  whooping 10%. The banks generally do this in case of bad debt, why ICICI bank did this  god only knows?
5. By this way Mr & Mrs Roy got benefit of Rs 48 crore, and it has been alleged that afterwards by hawala Rs 5o crore was sent out of the country.Secondly for many years after this they did not declare the correct ownership of NDTV, which was actually under Reliance control.
6. CBI acted on the complained filed by one Sanjay Dutt, who once had  share holding of 1% in NDTV.

So after committing all these follies, the promoters of NDTV and their supporters are behaving like holier than thou, and other channels/media are supporting them as they know their number can be next, because they have realised that this govt is not like earlier Congress led govts, who will allow these murky deals . Congress govt had habit of pampering press/media and in return Congress use them, therefore these media/press always felt they can get away with any thing which is against law.
