Yesterday(18th June 2017) was a very hyped day by media, because India was playing Champions Trophy cricket final against Pakistan. As India had beaten Pakistan in the league match, every one in print and TV media was projecting that it will be cake walk for India. There were 2 more interesting sports event yesterday, in which Indian team/Indian were participating but media is so cricket frenzy that they did not give much importance to these events. Media was forced to eat humble pie, as in cricket India lost but in other 2 events Indians won.
My few reactions/observations:
- India beat Pakistan in World League hockey match by 7 goals to one, which was a fantastic victory.
- K Srikanth beat Japan’s Kazumasa Sakai in the finals of Indonesian Badminton open, a premier tournament in world badminton circuit.
- Yesterday morning, in the premier English language newspapers in Mumbai, India Pakistan cricket match almost occupied two full pages coverage, but Hockey and Badminton combined covered only half page.
- And same newspapers today morning had front page photos of hockey stars and K Srikanth, what a reversal.
- I do not understand why cricket is given so much importance in our country and cricketers are considered to be demi god.
- Is it because of BCCI is a filthy rich body and it has spoiled every one including media, players (current and past) and administrators.
- Further more the IPL has done the job of adding fuel to the fire, now every cricketers’ aim is to get into any IPL team so that he can make money. There are instances where a cricketer without playing a test match or ODI for India has landed a crores worth contract in IPL.
- People should realise that when franchise owners are paying so much money to cricketers, they are going to recover the same from sponsors and sale of tickets, and when sponsors are paying so much money for endorsements, they are also going to recover from the consumers when they sell their product.
- It is high time that sponsors should support other sports also.Govt should also come forward with the proposal which should free the sports body and federations from old politicians, who are controlling so many federations for ages with out any improvement in their respective sports.
So what you say my friends.
Awaiting your feed backs & comments.
Bobby

There is vast difference between the earlier Cricket Matches as the test Matches and today’s Cricket Matches, which are purely commercial without any value of real Cricket for which one had to wait to start the season. Till that time it was really a curiosity to watch Cricket with love. Today it has become a menace for the students studying for their Exams diverting their attention and concentrate on their studies. Matches held throughout year has lost its value for the elders, and drifting the youngster’s thinking of making fast bucks with less efforts. Not only this, but also think of billions of Manhours of the spectators lost, which otherwise would have been a great asset for the self and also for the National growth. Thinking from the right direction may help everyone to realize the truth of intentions of the organizer’s interest in hiking the interest through media and other means. Spectators laziness and emotional imbalance while watching the game can lead to a slow setback vertualy evident, if one observes as an independent observer, the changes taking place in the lifestyles of the public.
There are enough commercials of entertainments available at the tip of finger switching on and off without any problems to have better lifestyles and value added as per the choices. Wastage of time, money and healthy atmosphere can be cured, without loosing energy through emotional imbalance can be set as a priority may help to come out of this menace, is very important to think and act positively in the interest of the citizens who care for their future generations.

Further to my expressions on Commercial Cricket, I wish to say that I am not against Cricket at all, accept for its Commercial implementations with an ideal way of making money out of the love for the cricket in India. I love Cricket with its multi talents and the concentrating ability, and the spot decisions along with few more.
While experiencing my views on Cricket I drifted from the subject about other sports.
Today is a happy situation with public interest growing in different sports is a highly appreciated and need to encourage the Sports from the School level itself. It’s a happy situation that Indian Hockey team is exceedingly prominent in its performance has proved its capacity yesterday only. Other sports like Football Volleyball Badminton Tennis including Boxing and many others are played in India needs support from everyone and encouragement from Government and private Enterprisers to give the boost to attract more and more youngsters. This is the need of the day which should be forgotten.
