Few days back in England there were two terror attacks, and I appreciate their media regarding how they handle the coverage of those incidents, and there were no irresponsible statements by politicians and no politician was invited on TV channels except may be the minister concerned . All the statements were given by concerned police official. No on the site of incident photos were published in Newspapers and no on the site video footage was relayed by any news channels.
And here in India:
1 .NDTV showed the live coverage of Security forces’s combing operation after the Pathankot terrorist attack last year, this was done by them despite the govt directive of no coverage. And when afterwards govt punished them by banning their telecast for one day, they started saying it is against the freedom of media and press.
2. In India, any thing happens the political leaders are the first to give their opinion/statements on news channel without thinking their repercussion. Like they started asking proof of surgical strikes from govt last year, and made themselves a laughing stock in front of world media.
3. Our politicians have a very bad habit of visiting site of any incidents whether terrorist attacks, riots or any other political incidents. This not only hampers the investigation by Security forces or police, but also hampers the rescue operations and medical aids. As all this incidents are covered by media and news channels, our politicians have hobby to force themselves on channels.
4. If govt stop these politicians from visiting the incident site, then they will say govt is behaving like dictator and are trying to bring emergency like situation. What these politicians do , when they visit the site, they instigate the people by speaking any thing not connected with the incident, just to score brownie points against their opponents.Few days back Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to visit Mandsaur in MP, where firing took place against farmer’s agitation, but still he met some farmers at the border location of Mandsaur. Yesterday again congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindiya, and Hardik Patel of Gujarat’s Patel reservation leader were prevented from entering the same area. It has been proven fact the farmers agitation in MP is sponsored by Congress, as it did not reap the desired benefits, now the congress is trying this diversion tactics.
5.In last few years there have been many terrorist attacks in Britain and France, but we have never seen Politicians from Ruling and Opposition parties rushing to the site on incident and giving irresponsible statements. The media in those country have their own ethics and they follow them very strictly. There media gives no importance to the politicians and they allow the security forces and police to do their jobs. Have you seen any footage of politicians in these countries even visiting the hospitals, they very well know this might hamper the medical aids to the victims, and here politicians rush to hospitals on the first opportunity.
As many of the politicians in our country are from rotten class, there is no chance of improvement in their behaviour, I only hope that the better sense prevail in the minds of the people who are controlling media, so that we can see a better scenario in coverage of these types of incidents.
