After Festival News

Friends I hope you all must have enjoyed the festivities of Diwali during last week, and for the same reason I could not write my blog for few days. There were many interesting news over the weekend, am going to elaborate on few of them.

  1. Water Transport- Yesterday PM inaugurated a passenger Ferry service between Dahej in Bharuch Dist and Ghogha in Bhavnagar Dist. This Ferry service is in the sea known as Gulf of Cambay, and distance of travel across the sea is about 31 km and will take about 1.5 hours in comparison to travel by road which takes 8 hours for covering the distance of  360 km. He further added after some time Govt will start Ferry service  which can carry passenger cars, Light Commercial Vehicles( LCV)  and Heavy Vehicles. One thing which PM said yesterday that earlier UPA govt had never given the permission to start this Ferry service as they had prohibited any development work in coastal area, is quite surprising.  India has got a very long coastal belt running into thousands of kms but the earlier Central Govt headed by Congress never gave a thought on developing  water transport which could have helped citizens living in the coastal areas. In Mumbai city which is basically an island there was no serious thought was given on water transport, except small ferry services which are running at few places, god knows for how many years, like Versova to Madh Island, Gateway to Elephanta Caves, Gateway to Alibagh . But these services are running with age old ferries, but there was news item that BJP Govt in Maharashtra is giving a serious thoughts on developing Water transport system across the coastal belt. As per my opinion Water Transport should be developed in a big way with modern Ferry Boats. Agreed that in Monsoon season there might be a delay in running these services, but in the event of  heavy monsoon even trains and road transport systems also get delayed.
  2. Tamil movie Mersal- This movie which was released last week has criticised Modi Govt for Demonitisation and implementing GST. Due to this there was wide spread demonstration by BJP supporters . On this the very intelligent VP of Congress Rahul Gandhi commented that as the movie has been cleared by Censor board the  demonstrations by BJP are uncalled for. I think Rahul has forgotten that few months back Congressmen demonstrated against a movie called Indu Sarkar , which was based on the happenings during Emergency period and one of the character was based on his grand mother Indira Gandhi, that movie was also cleared by Censor, then why this double standard. I think the Congressmen have also forgotten that during Emergency their leader and the PM Indira Gandhi had banned two Hindi movies Aandhi and Kissa Kursi Ka, the first movie was the story of  Lady politician( Congressmen objected that her Character is similar to Indira Gandhi) and second film was based in some imaginary country whose ruler was autocratic and Congressmen thought it was comment on Indira’s working. In the case of second film its original negatives were also destroyed. After the Emergency was lifted, the producer re made this film and released it. So  the talks of free speech and the film is cleared by censor , from the mouths of Congressmen look hollow and meaningless. So Rahul learn to preach what you practice otherwise keep your mouth shut.
  3. Virat Kohli- Yesterday Virat hit his 31st ODI century, and he is now behind Sachin Tendulkar who has hit 49 Centuries in ODIs. Is he going to be the greatest  batsman in the world cricket, let us compare their stats- Sachin 200 Tests(329 innings) Total Runs-15,921 (Av-54.08), Centuries 51. Virat 60 Tests(101 innings) Total Runs- 4658 (Av-56.02), Centuries 17.       Sachin-463 ODIs (452 innings), 18,426 runs, 49 Centuries, Av 44.83. Virat- 200 ODIs (190 innings), 8888 runs, 31 centuries, Av 55.55.  Sachin has played only one T20 match where he just scored 10 runs, while Virat in T2o matches have scored 1852 runs in 52 matches (48 innings) with av of 52.91. I think Virat is the only batsman in the world who has got av of more than 50 in all format of the games. Is Virat Kohli is going to be the greatest batsman in the world, looking at his present stats it looks like he might achieve that status, as presently his stats are better than that of Sachin’s in ODIs, in tests he is little behind Sachin at this stage but in T20 there can not be any comparison as Sachin just played one T20 match, secondly Virat is born leader and captaincy really suits him, where  Sachin performance as a Captain was not at all encouraging and while he was captaining his batting also suffered. Let us wait and watch what heights Virat will achieve in future , age is still on his side as he is just 29 and can play for at least 6/7 years more. Wishing him all the best.

So, what you say my friends.

Awaiting for yor feed backs and comments.

Mumbai needs good ferry service. I agree that during heavy monsoon even rail & road transportation is affected .
As mentioned earlier less said about Rahul is better.
Yes. Age is on Virat’ s side . He is sure to surpass Sachin’s records. But Sachin will still be the God of Cricket.
