So yesterday polling in Gujarat got over and by late evening all the TV news channels got busy and started showing Exit Polls, briefly put together the the out come is as follows
The various Exit Polls gave BJP seats ranging from 99 to 135 and Congress from 47 to 82. if you average out the seats from various Exit Polls then BJP stands at 113 and Congress at 64, while presently they are having 115 and 61 seats respectively. So basically the average of Exit Polls is matching with their present strength in assembly.
I would like to brief you my friends what happened during this poll campaign, initially Congress friendly media started projecting the changed image of Rahul Gandhi which they showed as voter friendly, and started telling the public that he will unseat the BJP from power in Gujarat and bring back achche din. But in my personal opinion Congress campaign did not have any substance and was changing on day to day basis and few of the following factors did not go in their favour
- This time congress hired too many professionals to assist Rahul Gandhi in formulating the strategy, who were based in Ahmedabad for almost 3 months.
- First Congress and Rahul Gandhi took the support of Paatidar leader Hardik Patel and promised him reservations for the community. When afterwards in a Press Conference he was asked how Congress will be giving reservations to Paatidars, he did not have a reply and passed the mike to PCC Chief.
- Soft Hindutva approach of Rahul Gandhi- suddenly you find a person who has rarely visited Hindu temples, started visiting the temples on day to day basis and Congress spoke person had the audacity to say that Rahul is Janeudhari hindu. For people this was hard to digest and even Congress supporters must have thought about whether Congress is turning into Hindu party. This must have not got well with Congress’s muslim voters.
- Next is self goals of Congress party( I had earlier written blog on this)- Mani Shanklar Aiyar calling PM Modi Neech, Congressmen meeting Pakistani delegation at Mani Shankar Aiyar’s residence for dinner, the silent ex PM manmohan Singh getting angry asking Modi to apologise for making remark that Congressmen discussed Gujarat Elections with Pakistani delegation, and there were many more.
- The fact is that Congress campaign was showing neither any strategy nor any substance and they were harping on only caste base votes and they never talked about development.
- Rahul Gandhi asking people of Gujarat where is development. It looks like Rahul started visiting only developed Gujarat, he should have seen the Gujarat in Congress days of 80s and early 90s and then only he could have realised how development happened in Gujarat in last 2 decades.
Now if on 18th Dec the poll results matches with Exit Polls then be prepared for following reactions from Congress
a. BJP tempered with EVM machines.
b. Congress vote share has increased and this happened due to efforts of Rahul Gandhi.
c. BJP has used state machinery to influence the voters, and also used money power to garner votes
d. Rahul Gandhi is not responsible for the loss of election, it is the failure of state leadership-Rahul was only helping them.
e. It was only a state election and Rahul is bracing himself for general elections of 2019.
In the recent years most of the times Exit polls have shown correct trends except in last Bihar and Delhi state elections.
Will this be one more step of BJP towards Congress Mukt Bharat. I think for the democracy to survive and function properly , we also need strong opposition and at this stage only Congress is Pan Indian political party , others are regional parties. But do Congress have a strong leadership to bring out the party from this present mess.
So what you say my friends.
Awaiting for your feed backs and comments.

Where is strong opposition? We only have fragmented parties all over.

Fiddling with reservations was stupid on the part of Rahul. The rest of India is shocked by his partnering with Hardik Patel. Doesn’t say much for the future of the country….
