Few interesting thoughts on this Thursday of Dec 2017

1. Central Govt has decided to set up 12 Courts exclusively to try out cases against politicians/lawmakers and 2 Special Courts to decide fate of tainted member of Parliament. This decision has been conveyed to Supreme Court, and this could be set back to all those politicians who despite facing serious charges, have remained members of Parliament and State assemblies. As per the records available with the govt there are more than 13,500 cases still be decided against politicians, and out of that more than 1580 MPs/MLAs are facing criminal charges, out of this 228 are tainted MPs. This only proves that the present Govt at centre is very serious on this issue and taking positive/concrete steps to drive out tainted and criminal elements from the Indian Polity. I hope by next general elections few of these tainted leaders will fade out of Indian politics.

2. Recently a teenage actress made a statement in press and social media that while she was travelling from Delhi to Mumbai in Vistara Airlines, a person sitting behind her in Business class was misbehaving with her, first person was keeping leg on her seat’s arm rest and afterwards the same person was touching her back portion with his leg and was trying to molest her. On reaching Mumbai she lodged FIR with police, the person concerned has been arrested after 2 days and is now in police custody. My only thought on this issue is why the actress who is more than 17 years of age did not raise an alarm with the Airlines crew members during the flight, if she would have done that the person would not have the courage to do any thing afterwards. While sitting on her seat she shot video of herself mentioning this incident. Secondly she was travelling with her mother, why she did not tell her mother in the beginning only when the thing started, her mother would have raised her voice in the flight to attract the attention of other co passengers, and summoned the crew. But nothing of this sort happened and further yesterday Vistara informed to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that their cabin crew did not see any misbehaviour by any passenger on this flight and neither some passenger reported about this to the cabin crew. I do not know what could be the truth in this matter or in filmy language was it a Publicity stunt.

3. Yesterday Rohit Sharma hit his third double century in One Day Internationals (ODI). There are only 7 times that 200+ score has been achieved in ODIs and Rohit has done 3 times. The other 4 batsmen who have scored 200+runs are Virendra Sehwag (219 runs), Sachin Tendulkar (200 runs), Chris Gayle (215 runs) and Martin Guptill(237 runs). In this list 200+ scorers, India has got three records: Sachin was first to score 200 runs in the year 2010 against South Africa, Rohit Sharma has got 2 records -First scoring highest 264 runs and second scoring thrice 200+ score. You will see from the list that all the other batsmen who have scored 200+ runs are hard hitting batsman but Rohit Sharma is the only batsman who relies on his timing and placement for the runs, even when he hits four or six the shot looks very elegant and effortless.
