Today I am going to deliberate on few news items which caught my attention
- Govt ends subsidy for Haj pilgrimage from this year- Minority Affair minister Mukhtar Naqvi announced yesterday that from this year onwards govt will not give any subsidy amount to Muslims who are going for Haj pilgrimage. He said this is as per the SC order of May 2012, which had directed the govt to slowly reduce the subsidy amount and finally abolishing the same. He further added that the funds will be used for the welfare of minority community. Congress party was the one who started this subsidy, but yesterday they made the comment that they do not have any objections for abolishing this subsidy as long as the funds are used for the welfare of the community. A spoke person for the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) said yesterday that the subsidy was an eye wash, as the subsidy was actually meant for Air India, the ailing air lines of the govt. My only point is why AIMPLB never said about this eye wash earlier, secondly Air India has become sick for last few years, but the subsidy was going on for last 7 decades, that time Muslims were using this subsidy for their benefits.
- Very interesting thing happened today- Gautam Adani of Adani group made an announcement that they want to double the capacity of their refinery in Bengal from 1600 Ton per day to 3200 Ton per day, and packaging capacity from 1200 Ton per day to 1800 Ton per day. To achieve this the company will be investing 750 crores in next one year. He further announced during Bengal Investor Summit that their group is also interested in investing in Infra related projects in Bengal. Earlier Mamta Banerjee had made a statement some where that PM Modi is Adani’s friend and has helped Adani a lot in Gujarat. Now Modi’s supposed friend is interested in investing in her state, so what will she do now. Will she allow his bete noire Modi’s friend to enter Bengal in big way. Time will only tell.
- Producer of hind film Padmavat(earlier called Padmavati) today approached and asked SC to give direction to all states to allow the release of the film in their area. Their contention is as the film is now cleared by Censor Board, it should be allowed to release across the country. Till today five states namely Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh have banned the movie, and the same can not be released in these states. UP and Goa are nest in line to ban this movie in their state.On the other hand some court in Allahabad has sent a notice to Censor board Chief Prasoon Joshi how he has cleared this movie, as this film glorifies the Sati system. What a scene— one side is saying that film is distorting the historical facts and the other side is saying that Sati, which was part of Rajput history, should not be shown. I think , if this is the situation, no film maker will dare to make any film based on Indian history. Even a decade back, when film Jodha Akbar was to be released then also there was some agitations by Rajputs about Jodha’s character.
- Now wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik has been summoned to South Africa for 3rd test, as main wicket keeper Saha has been injured. He is coming back to Indian team after 7 years. Now there is going to be interesting development in Indian Dressing Room, for that you have to go to very recent past. During IPL 5 in 2012, Dinesh Karthik introduced his wife Niketa to his friend Murli Vijay ( playing in present Indian team as opener), and after some time Dinesh Karthik found out that Murli Vijay and his wife are having an affair. There was show down between husand and wife and Niketa left Dinesh, and as per reports she was pregnant that time( with whose baby no one knows). They sought out for divorce and after the same was finalised, Murli Vijay married Niketa and now they have 2 more children. Dinesh Karthik married India’s top Squash player Dipika Pillakal in 2015. It is believed that Niketa is in SA with Murli Vijay. Now what is going to happen in SA in days to come, when Niketa/Murli and Dinesh meet, will they meet as normal matured adult people or sparks are going to fly.

1, It was wrong in the first place to give subsidy for Haj as thus pilgrimage is to be performed with self earned income.
2. Mamata will keep quiet saying that it is for Mr. Adani to decide where he wants to invest.
3. It is paradoxical that one side is saying that film is not acceptable as it is against Rajput honour and on other side it glorifies SATI.
